Tierney Gearon

Born: 1963
Atlanta, GA

Never had much formal art training, but did study under a European model photographer in Utah. She then entered the fashion photography industry.

Tierney Gearon is an American photographer who came to fame over the controversy of photos of her nude children that she took and displayed in the Saatchi Gallery in Britain. It drew a media blitz due to police investigations and both support and condemnation from the public. Here are some of her works:

Born: 1951
Lexington City
Married: Larry Mann

Grew up in a household both full of love but also unusual. Her father like to make statues of both the abnormally fantastic and death fantasy. This may have inspired her art in her later years.

Sally Mann is one of the best known American photographers of the modern era. She is known for her large black and white film prints of her children as well as her later landscape portraits that focused on decay and death. She drew criticism for her work in her early years due to the nudity of her children in her photos. Here are some of the most famous photos of her.

Sydney Harbour Bridge - at Night

This photo is taken from Circular Quay, near the Overseas Passenger Terminal. Looking North.

I took 17 shots of the bridge at night while my parents were taking a walk. Most of them came out blurry until I found a pole to stabilize my camera on. Earlier that day, we had climbed the bridge itself.

Fly Proudly

The Australian Flag flying over Darling Harbour in Sydney

About the Picture:

Australia is a democratic country in the southern hemisphere that was a former colony of the British Empire. Although independent in all respects, it still recognizes Queen Elizabeth II as the Head of State, and is therefore a member of the Commonwealth of Nations (former British Colonies). The largest star at the bottom is the Commonwealth Star, and the constellation on the right of the flag represents the Southern Cross Constellation.

I stood for about 1 hour along the harbor side taking pictures of this flag in the wind in both black & white and in color to get the flag in a perfect position. I ended up taking about 760 photos of the flag on my Canon DSLR, and only about 5 made the cut.
